STRESS ECHO

Stress Echo is an exercise test in which you will walk, jog or run for a few minutes to test your cardiovascular capacity.

Why is a Stress Echo required?

  • If you are having new or current symptoms of angina or chest pain
  • If your angina that is getting worse
  • If you recently had a heart attack
  • If you are going to have surgery or begin an exercise program

Length of appointment:

Approximately 60 minutes.

Preparation for Test:

Do not eat or drink anything except water for 4 hours prior to the test. Do not drink or eat foods containing caffeine for 12 hours before the test. Ask your doctor which heart medications you should omit taking on the day of your test. If you use an inhaler for your breathing, bring it to the test. On the day of your stress test, wear comfortable running shoes suitable for walking and comfortable clothes.
